Please spread the news, Getting Ahead in a Just-Getting-By-World is now accepting applications for the spring series! The workshops are completely free and run for 8 weeks, twice a week, for a total of 16 sessions. The first session begins on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 and will run every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 5:30pm – 8:00pm.
The newly opened Hillcrest Academy has kindly allowed us to utilize their community space in the evenings at 400 Columbus Ave. in Pittsfield. All active participants will receive a $20 stipend for each session completed. We also provide a home cooked dinner each night and child care activities for all ages! This training is a comprehensive approach to understanding poverty. Bridges Out of Poverty uses the lens of economic class and provides concrete tools and strategies for a community to alleviate poverty.
Participants will review poverty research, examine a theory of change, and analyze poverty through the lens of the hidden rules of class, resources, and language.
Throughout the workshop, participants will receive specific strategies for improving outcomes, but the focus of the workshop is to provide a broad overview of concepts.
